In September 2007 a group of local residents came together to form a management group for the proposed Community Centre and the Angmering Community Centre Association was established in February 2008 when the Constitution was adopted. Charitable Status followed in July 2008. The Centre was built by and is owned by Angmering Parish Council, and is being leased to the Association.
As a Charity, our objectives are:
- To promote the benefit of the inhabitants…to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants.
- To establish or secure the establishment of a Community Centre and to maintain and manage the same in furtherance of the above objective.
The building was handed over to the Association on Wednesday 29 September 2009 and the first activities at the Centre commenced on 3 October.
The Centre serves the whole of Angmering and surrounding area and is a multi-purpose venue with a Main Hall, two Meeting Rooms, Kitchen and Central Display and Refreshment Area. It is our aim to provide the facilities and equipment to open up new educational and recreational opportunities for community groups and individuals wishing to use the Centre.
A manager on site during part of the day plus volunteers will allow the Centre to be used by residents other than hirers to drop in for a tea or coffee, make use of IT facilities (when in place) and access an information centre. The volunteers will be recruited to assist the manager and allow longer access to the facilities. We want to encourage local artists and schools to put up displays in the central area. Kitchen facilities will make a lunch club a possibility if required.
See our Activities page for a list of those planning to provide clubs and services.
